orthotics

Custom orthotics are orthopedic devices designed to address various biomechanical disorders or dysfunctions.  Each orthotic is specifically designed for each patient in order to meet their needs.

Orthotics work by providing additional support  in order to promote proper mechanical operation of the foot.  Poor mechanical function may result in bunion formation, neuroma formation, and other potential conditions that may lead to pain.  Pain in the foot and low back may sometimes be attributed to poor mechanical function in the foot.

Typically constructed with polypropylene shells, the orthotics can be designed with a variety of cushioning supports, top covers, and other modifications to fit your activity needs, intended shoe usage, and more.

acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional form of healthcare developed thousands of years ago in China.  Traditionally used to balance the body’s Qi, or energy, needles are used to manipulate its flow through pathways in the body called meridians. Current theories believe that acupuncture acts on a more mechanical basis, influencing fascia or connective tissue in the body. Using different needling techniques, acupuncture can be applied to decrease muscular tension and adhesions. Additionally, electrical stimulation of the needles is believed to help on a biochemical level as well.
